Location: South Wirral
Overview:
We initially became familiar with Gordale Garden Centre back in 2017 as they needed a quote for x4 till units in their store, located in South Wirral. Fast forward 5 years to present time they approached us again with a new replenishment project within the same location.
This proved to us that happy customers will always come back – we love repeat custom!
The Brief:
- To create a welcoming customer information desk which is accessible from all sides
- For the desk to be a prominent feature within the store
- Overhead lighting system – to brighten the area due to no natural light
- Durable and long lasting, in keeping with overall colour blends
The Challenge:
The reception desk design was fairly straight forward. Using our regular material suppliers, we sourced materials to suit our customers brief and design. The information desk was manufactured in 3 sections making it easy to deliver and manoeuvre on site. Once delivered, the 3 sections were bolted together forming a horseshoe shape.
As for the overhead canopy we knew that MDF would be too heavy to suspend from the ceiling, regardless of the suspension wire strength. So, our only solution to this was to use light weight foam supplied to us by Diab, which we knew could sustain the installation process.
We manufactured the canopy in 4 sections leaving the top half uncovered. This was necessary as there were 9 spotlights to be wired together and fitted to the mains.
Once the shape was established in the foam material, the carcass was laminated using Kronospan Ivory.
An additional challenge presented itself as the customers wanted the counter to be situated within a floor area, which meant that it had to match the angles of the walkway.
Challenge accepted and successfully completed!
Overall features and materials used:
- Kronospan Ivory carcass
- EGGER UK EGGER Group Brushed Aluminium Kick Board
- McCue Corporation Bump Strip
- Granite surface supplied externally
- x9 LED downlights
- Cable grommets
Project Management:
Our Sales Manager Jon Nock dealt with Gordale Garden Centre back in 2017 so due to familiarity they came back through to him.
From order placement to delivery, the project ran for 4.5 weeks’ total. This includes all of the design in IMOS IX (CAD CAM design software), creation of the shape and features in the machine shop to then finishing up in our joinery area.
Delivery:
Once completed by our highly skilled team of joiners and signed off by our Sales Manager the items were wrapped in our joinery shop and sent off to its designated location – Burton, South Wirral.
